The 2016 wildfire season is underway. With several fires already extinguished and others currently burning near Flagstaff, the US Forest Service is very busy with wildland fire mitigation. A large section of pavement at the Prescott Airport is home to the Prescott Fire Center and Henry Y. H. Kim Aviation Facility. This facility serves as a hub for aerial firefighting and is a vital resource for our community and the surrounding region. With three brand new loading pits, the Kim Aviation Facility can support multiple large air tankers, as well as several helicopters and smaller air attack aircraft.
Please keep in mind that additional large air craft flying in proximity to Prescott Airport and throughout the region are likely involved in firefighting efforts.
Additionally, please use caution during all outdoor activities to reduce the risk of fire in this dry season.
