The large scale project, which was started in October of 2015, has brought our airfield lighting system into the 21st century! The project was funded by generous contributions from federal, state, and local governments. These electrical improvements have not only improved efficiency and reliability of the airfield lighting system, but have also increased safety in maintenance practices and provided back-up generators and control units in case of emergency. In addition to upgrading the greatly aged infrastructure, the project also included the installation of new visual aids (VisAids) to four of our six runway approaches, as well as installing a completely new edge lighting system to Taxiway Echo.
Thank you to all involved in the project, and especially to the airport users for their flexibility during closures and the many phases of construction!
